Happy New Year
So I haven’t posted much, primarily because all the updates on my clean elections project are not the kind that can be mentioned publicly. But suffice it to say that there things proceed.
But I’d like to talk about a really cool Christmas gift. As I’d mentioned, as an economist, I have issues with gift-giving, because most gift-giving is a deadweight loss. Yes, there is signaling involved, but the signaling is most effective when there is actually no deadweight loss, ignoring the signaling benefits. But this Christmas I received from Pablos a BumpKey. This gift is cool, not just because it is useful, but because it is cheap and will stay with me forever. Its marginal cost to the giver is probably under $2.00, and I will put it on my keyring, to sit next to the handcuff key that Sandy Sandfort gave to me and everyone else at C2Net, when they were hired.
