One Year of CrossFit

Today marks the one year anniversary of my first starting CrossFit, at CrossFit Phoenix. I remember calling Scott last year and he said, come on by this evening! So I showed up and he and Alisha gave me what I needed. I showed up and met Jeff and Kristy, and we did our first class together, learning squats. Damn that was a long and painful day full of squats, and then, after spending a long time doing squats, they made us do a WOD. I think it was four rounds, 400m run and then 30 airsquats. Nothing too scary, but it took me forever. Jeff and Kristy bailed halfway through because they had to “be somewhere”.

I remember having the hardest time with medicine ball cleans. I remember for the final day of foundations they put me through “half Cindy” — Cindy for ten minutes. I managed barely three rounds! Now my latest Cindy is 16 rounds, and my current target for the next run of Cindy is the big two-zero.

When I started at CrossFit last year I could barely string together single jump ropes. Now I have doubles. (Not linked together, but doubles.)

My first backsquats in May 2008 was 115#. Now my max is 245#.

The day before I left Phoenix for NYC my FGB score was 147. Now I am just under 200.

This last year, my first year of doing CrossFit, has been quite the experience. I’m looking forward to another year of some good times!
