Annie’s Snatch

Today at CrossFit I decided to hit the snatch for weight. Until now I’ve been hesitant with the snatch, working form fairly light, at 75, 85 pounds, but today I decided to see what happened under load. Worked out fairly well.

3-3-3-3-3: 65/85/95/105/115

The last two sets were messy, I was slow so I had a few failures and didn’t get to full lockout sometimes so I had to muscle it up, but I was able to ‘stick it’ on at least one rep per weight and I got it overhead at least 3 times per weight, so I am good. =)

Then Annie was on the schedule. I was thinking I should do something not quite prescribed, but still double-underish. However, Juliana called me out and said I was a pussy if I didn’t do it. So, under duress, I hit Annie as prescribed. Juliana was right, it was the right thing to do.

I was able to hit the doubles in single/single/double fashion. By the end I was able to get it consistently. The beginning was tough. I stopped after every double though, rather than any sort of linking– at first I tried single/single/double/single/single/double etc but it got all messy and was slowing me down so I thought just seperating it out was best. Towards the end Dan cued me not to jump so high and it felt a lot better — really felt like linking it together was possible at that point, but I was so close to the end I didn’t want to break my stride and change my system. I really figured out the ‘double-whip’ technique I think. Now I have to work on making my jump clean and efficient.
